PRESTON ROAD Metropolitan Line

Barn Hill Open Space and Fryent Country Park are just about within reach of this station, but, frankly you would be better off accessing them from KINGSBURY, as from Preston Road there is an uphill walk of about fifteen minutes which is not of any great interest.
However, if you are of a masochistic turn of mind or keen on fitness training, here are the directions from Preston Road Tube to the top of Barn Hill (86m) where there are spectacular view of the new Wembley Stadium and a walk in the woods:

Turn right out of theTube and take the first right, Uxendon Crescent. At The Avenue cross the road and go up West Hill, which becomes Barn Hill. When you reach the top you will find a path leading into a grassy area. Bear right here and soon you will see the triangulation marker. Go straight past this to find the path into the woods. This is steep at first, and would be very tricky in wet weather. When you see open fields ahead the path turns sharp right. Follow this to get to Fryent Way. Cross this busy road (no pedestrian crossing of any kind) with great care to get to the rest of Fryent Country Park.
Preston Road is just one walk from the many to be found at London Tube Rambles. There are architectural gems, beautiful country views, historic places and quirky buildings  even in the most unpromising areas covered by the outer London Underground stations. Usually the discoveries are within a mile of the Tube - often only five minutes walk away.
